Web Design Agency Vienna: Websites and Online Shops That Bring Enquiries and Sales
In brief
Web design means planning, designing and technically building a website or online shop so that visitors find you, trust you and get in touch or buy. In Vienna, digtatur builds websites from 990 €, business websites from 2.490 €, Website Premium (with photo and video production and copy by us) from 3.990 € and web shops from 2.490 € on WordPress, Shopify or WooCommerce, net, plus VAT.
Your website is often the first impression potential customers get of you, and frequently the place where interest becomes an enquiry, a reservation or an order. It therefore has to load quickly on a phone, explain clearly what you offer, and be found in Google and in AI answers. That is exactly where we put the focus, not on effects.
The final price depends on the number of pages, functions, copy and images. After a free initial consultation you receive a fixed-price quotation. That way you know in advance what you will pay. You can find more on the Prices page.
How long does a website project take?
A small website of up to five pages is often finished in a few weeks if material is supplied promptly. A business website with a blog and several service pages usually takes a few weeks more. For online shops, the duration depends mainly on the number of products, variants, and payment and shipping settings.
The biggest time factor is rarely design and technology, but copy, images and decisions. If content arrives late, the launch is pushed back. We help with copy suggestions, structure and, if you wish, our own photos, for example from our photography service. We set the schedule in the quotation and keep to it together. A relaunch generally takes somewhat longer, because content and redirects have to be checked. You can find a checklist in the article Website relaunch checklist.
What do we need from you?
Goal and target audience: What should the site achieve, and whom do you want to reach?
Copy and content: Services, prices or price ranges, opening hours, team. If anything is missing, we draft it with you.
Images and logo: Existing material or a wish for a shoot. Logo and colours, if available.
Legal details: Company name, address, VAT number (UID), trade licence (Gewerbe), chamber membership and other mandatory details for the legal notice (Impressum).
Access: Domain, existing website, Google accounts, social media profiles.
Feedback within deadlines: One fixed contact person who reviews drafts promptly.
For shops: Product data, prices, variants, shipping rules and payment methods.
If you are missing material, that is no obstacle. Many clients start with few documents, and we build up step by step together.
Shopify or WooCommerce: Which system suits your shop?
Shopify is a hosted system: hosting, security and updates are included, it is easy to use, and payment and shipping are quick to set up. It suits shops with a clear standard process. In return there are monthly fees and, depending on the apps, additional costs. Our shops fleischerei-wien.at and produktverpackung.com run on Shopify.
WooCommerce is a WordPress plugin. It offers a lot of flexibility for special requirements, such as special prices, B2B logic or custom processes, but demands more maintenance for updates, security and hosting.
As a rule of thumb: if you want to sell quickly and with little technical effort, Shopify is often the better choice. If you need very individual functions or already have a WordPress site, WooCommerce may fit. You can find a detailed comparison in the article Online shop with Shopify or WooCommerce.
What does an online shop involve: payment, shipping, product data and obligations?
Payment methods: Common options are credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna or EPS as well as bank transfer. We set up the providers that suit your target audience. Transaction fees apply.
Shipping: Shipping zones, prices, weight classes, collection and delivery times are stored in the shop, as are connections to common shipping carriers.
Product data: Titles, descriptions, prices, variants, images, weight and, where applicable, ingredients or labelling. Good data sells, and clean images also help search. Tips in the article Product photography for online shops.
Legal obligations in brief: Legal notice (Impressum), privacy policy, terms and conditions (AGB), right-of-withdrawal information for consumers, correct prices including VAT, a note on shipping costs and a clear buy button. Depending on the goods, additional rules apply, for example for food. These notes are not legal advice; for the texts we recommend a lawyer or a provider of legal texts.
How will your website be found on Google and in AI answers?
A website has to be technically clean and clear in content. This includes:
A clear page structure with descriptive addresses and a dedicated page for each service.
Headings as questions and direct answers, of the kind AI systems also quote.
Structured data (Schema.org) for businesses, FAQ and products.
Consistent business details on the website, Google Business Profile and directories.
Sitemap, clean titles and descriptions as well as redirects for relaunches.
Helpful expert content, for example as a blog in the Business package.
This is traditionally called SEO and, for AI answers, also GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Neither is a guarantee of a position, but without these foundations you have hardly any chance. Background: GEO explained and Local SEO and Google Business Profile. The website check shows how your site currently performs.
Why do load time and mobile devices matter so much?
Most visitors today come on a smartphone, often on a mobile network. If someone has to wait too long, they leave. Load time is also factored into how search engines rate a site. We therefore rely on a lean build:
Images in modern formats and suitable sizes
A few vetted plug-ins instead of dozens of extensions
Fonts and scripts only where they are needed
Designed for mobile first, then for desktop
Accessible contrasts, legible type and clear operation
A pretty design is no use if it loads slowly. With the video hero, as we built it for the restaurant elaichi.at, we make sure the video does not slow the page down.
Maintenance, ownership and hosting: who owns what?
Ownership: We register the domain in your name or transfer it to your account. The website, copy, images and access belong to you. Accounts for Google, Shopify or hosting also run in your business’s name. You should be able to switch to another provider at any time.
Maintenance: Websites have to be maintained. Updates, security fixes, backups and checks prevent outages and attacks. Our website maintenance starts at 49 € per month. If you prefer to maintain the site yourself, you receive training and a short guide.
Hosting: For WordPress and WooCommerce you need a hosting provider; with Shopify it is included in the plan. We advise on the choice.
Important: A website is never completely finished. Content, offers and technology change. We therefore plan for further development.
What typical mistakes happen with websites?
Design before content. Beautiful, but with no clear statement of what you offer.
No clear next step. Without a button, phone number or form, interest fizzles out.
Slow pages caused by large images and too many extensions.
Missing legal details: Legal notice (Impressum), privacy policy, consent banner or, for shops, terms and conditions and right-of-withdrawal information.
No redirects on relaunch. Old addresses lead nowhere and rankings are lost.
Domain and access held by the service provider. That makes any switch harder.
No measurement. Without tracking, nobody knows what works.
Never updated. Outdated content and technology damage trust and security.
Most of these mistakes can be avoided if goal, content and responsibilities are clarified before the start. That is exactly the purpose of our briefing.
How do you choose a web design agency?
Look at references: Open real projects on your phone, not just screenshots. You can find ours under References.
Fixed price and scope: What is included, and what costs extra?
Clarify ownership: Domain, accounts and files must be with you.
SEO, speed, tracking: Are they part of the offer or an extra?
Maintenance and support: Who looks after things after launch?
A personal contact: With us you speak directly to the owner, in German and Turkish.
Net, plus 20 % VAT. Domain and hosting cost extra, depending on the provider. The final price depends on the number of pages, functions, copy and images. For Website Premium we fix the scope of the production (shooting time, video length) in the quote. Web shops are listed under Web shop.
At digtatur, a website starts from 990 € for up to about five pages. The business website with up to about twelve pages, blog, GEO/SEO structure and tracking starts at 2.490 €. Website Premium with a photo shoot, video and copy by us starts from 3.990 €, web shops from 2.490 €. All prices are net, plus 20 % VAT, and are given as a fixed price after the initial consultation.
How long does it take until my website is online?
A small website is often finished in a few weeks if material is supplied promptly; larger projects and shops take longer. The biggest time factor is usually copy, images and approvals. We set the schedule in the quotation. If you supply content early, or we develop it with you, things go much faster.
Shopify or WooCommerce, which is better?
Shopify is hosted, easy to use and quick to set up, but there are ongoing fees. WooCommerce is more flexible for special requirements but needs more maintenance. For shops with a standard process we often recommend Shopify, and for very individual requirements or an existing WordPress site, WooCommerce. We decide together based on your needs.
Which payment methods can I offer in the shop?
Common options are credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna, EPS and bank transfer. Which are worthwhile depends on your target audience and order value, because every payment method incurs fees. We set up the providers you want and test the order process with you before launch.
Which legal texts does my online shop need?
At a minimum a legal notice (Impressum), privacy policy, terms and conditions (AGB) and right-of-withdrawal information for consumers. Added to this are correct prices including VAT, a note on shipping costs and a clearly labelled buy button. Depending on the goods, further rules apply. This is not legal advice; you should have the texts legally reviewed. We integrate them correctly from a technical point of view.
Is the website also optimised for Google and AI search?
Yes. We pay attention to clean structure, load time, headings as questions, direct answers, structured data and consistent business details. This is the basis for Google and AI systems to understand and quote your content. We give no guarantees for particular positions, because competition and content play a large role.
Do I own the domain, website and access?
Yes. The domain runs in your name, and the website, content and accounts belong to your business. You receive all login details and can switch provider at any time. We see this as a matter of course and not as a means of applying pressure. At handover we document which accounts and services are in use and who pays for them.
Can I edit my website myself later?
Yes. We build the site so that you can change copy, images and offers yourself, and we train you in a short session. You also receive a simple guide. If you would rather hand this off, you can book our website maintenance from 49 € per month, including updates and backups.
What does website maintenance cost?
Our website maintenance starts at 49 € per month, net. It covers updates, security fixes and backups. Hosting and domain are separate, depending on the provider. Without maintenance, the risk of security vulnerabilities and outages rises, especially with WordPress and WooCommerce. With Shopify the provider takes over part of the technology, but you should still have content and apps checked regularly.
Do you also take on relaunches of existing websites?
Yes. We first check which content and addresses bring visitors and rankings, and carry them over. With clean redirects we avoid losing visibility. Design, technology and testing then follow as for a new project. You can find a checklist on our blog.
