Photography in Vienna: product photos, portraits and location shoots that build trust
In brief
Photography provides the images by which customers judge your business before they get in touch. In Vienna, digtatur photographs products from 15 € per image (from 20 images), business and team shoots from 190 € and location and restaurant shoots from 290 € (net). You receive edited images, ready for your shop, website, Google profile and social media.
Images are often the first and sometimes the only impression customers get of you: in your web shop, on Google Maps, in your Instagram feed or on your menu. Blurry, dark or inconsistent photos quickly look unprofessional, even if your product and service are excellent. Good photos, on the other hand, make quality visible.
digtatur photographs for businesses in Vienna and the surrounding area, in the studio, at your premises or at your location. On this page you can read which shoots there are, what they cost, how a shoot works, how long delivery takes and what to look for with regard to rights, data protection and choosing a photographer.

Which photo shoots does digtatur offer?
We cover the types of image that businesses most commonly need in everyday use:
Product photography: white-background cut-outs for shops and marketplaces, lifestyle shots in context of use, detail images
Business and team shoot: individual portraits, team photos, working situations
Location and restaurant shoot: rooms, façade, food, drinks, atmosphere
Photos and videos combine well. One appointment often delivers both, and the images then match the look of the videos. You can find more on moving images under videography, and aerial shots under drone footage. All three belong to our video, photo and drone pillar.
If you are unsure which shoot suits you, one simple question helps: where will the images be used later? Shop, Google profile, menu, team page or ad each place different demands on subject, format and style. We plan the shoot backwards from the intended use.
Who benefits from a professional shoot?
Whenever images influence purchasing decisions or enquiries:
Online shops and retailers where product photos carry the sales
Restaurants, cafés and bars whose guests look at Google or Instagram first
Service providers, law firms and practices that build trust through faces
Trades businesses that want to show finished work and their team
Businesses relaunching their website that need current, consistent images
Phone photos you take yourself can be enough for stories, but not for a shop, website and Google profile. There, consistent lighting, clean backgrounds and constant quality are important, especially when customers compare several products. A shoot costs money once, and the images then work for you for years.
What does a photo shoot cost in Vienna?
All prices are “from” prices, net, plus 20 % VAT:
Shoot
Price (net)
Product photos, per image (from 20 images)
from 15 €
Business and team shoot
from 190 €
Location and restaurant shoot
from 290 €
The price is determined mainly by the number of subjects, the effort for setup (for example lifestyle scenes with props), time on site, the number of people and the extent of retouching. For product photos: the more images are made in one appointment, the more efficiently we work. That is why the price per image applies from a minimum quantity of 20 images. You will find an overall overview on the pricing page. After a free initial consultation, you receive a written quote with the number of images and scope of delivery.
White-background cut-outs or lifestyle: which product photos do I need?
Usually both, but with different roles:
White-background cut-outs show the product plainly against a white or neutral background. They are standard for web shops and marketplaces, because they are comparable and load quickly.
Lifestyle photos show the product in use or in its surroundings. They evoke emotion, suit social media, ads and home pages, and help to convey size and benefit.
For a shop, we recommend as a basis a consistent set of a cut-out and one or two detail or in-use images per product, supplemented by a few lifestyle images for categories and campaigns. A consistent angle, lighting and crop look more professional than individual standout images. We explain the role good product images play in being found and in sales in the article Product photography for online shops.
How does a shoot work, and what do you need from me?
The process is similar for all shoots:
Coordination: We clarify subjects, style, intended use and date. A list of the images you want helps both of us.
Setup: Lighting and background are set up, for products usually in the studio or at your premises.
Shoot: We photograph in a structured way, subject by subject, and show you interim results.
Selection and editing: We choose the best shots, correct colour and light and retouch.
This is what we need from you: products or location in presentable condition, information on brand and colours, for portraits the information for those taking part, for restaurants the agreement with the kitchen. For products, we ask for clean, undamaged items in the required quantity, preferably with spares.
How long does delivery take, and what does image editing include?
You usually receive the images within a few days of the shoot, and by arrangement for larger jobs with many products. We state the specific delivery date in the quote.
Editing includes:
Selection of the best shots
Correction of exposure, white balance and colours
Cropping to consistent formats
Cut-outs and retouching, such as dust, reflections or minor skin blemishes in portraits
Delivery is by online gallery or download. Typical file formats are JPG for web and print as well as PNG or WebP for shop and website, each in suitable sizes. We assign sensible file names (for example product-name-colour), which helps with organisation and image search. Extensive composites or elaborate beauty retouching are agreed in advance.
How do I use the photos for my web shop and Google Business Profile?
Good images work best where customers find you. That is why we deliver directly in the right sizes:
Web shop and website: product images in a consistent format and web size, so that pages load quickly. You can read how we build shops under web design.
Google Business Profile: exterior and interior shots, team, products and dishes. Current, genuine images often make your profile more informative. You will find tips on this in the article Local SEO and Google Business Profile.
Social media: portrait and landscape formats, story crops
Print: menus, flyers and posters in higher resolution
If you tell us the intended use in advance, we plan the image framing and space for text from the start.
Which rights apply to photos and portraits?
You receive the agreed usage rights to the delivered images, normally for your business communication on your website, shop, social media and print. Scope, duration and media are stated in the quote.
For portraits and people in the picture, the following also applies: people have personality rights, and photos of identifiable people are personal data within the meaning of the GDPR (DSGVO). In practice, that means:
Employees give written consent to being photographed and to the use of the images; we provide a template for this.
Depending on the situation, consent can be withdrawn. We discuss with you how to deal with this, for example when someone leaves the company.
For guests in a restaurant, we photograph so that nobody is recognisable, or obtain consent.
This is practical guidance, not legal advice. If in doubt, we recommend consulting a lawyer.
Which mistakes often happen, and how do I choose a photographer?
Common mistakes:
Product images in different lighting, angles and formats, so that the shop looks unsettled
Images that are too dark or too heavily filtered, which distort colours and can increase returns
No planning of the intended use, so that the crop for banners or portrait format is missing later
Stock photos in the team or location area, which customers quickly see through
Missing consent for portraits
Huge image files that make pages slow
How to choose a provider: Look at work in your area, that is product, portrait or restaurant. Ask about number of images, editing, delivery time and rights. Clarify whether formats for shop and social media are included. And pay attention to whether someone understands your goal. A free initial consultation quickly shows whether the chemistry is right.

How many images will I receive?
We set the number of images in the quote. You receive the best edited shots, not hundreds of unselected files. For product photos, the number depends on the products and views, for portraits on the people. If you want further images later, we add them from the shoot for an additional charge.

Both are possible. We photograph products in the studio or at your premises, while portraits and location shoots take place at your premises. Our focus is Vienna and Lower Austria, and by arrangement also beyond. We state travel costs outside Vienna in advance.
Are image editing and retouching included?
Yes. Selection, colour and light correction, cropping, cut-outs and standard retouching are included, so that all images look consistent. We agree elaborate composites or intensive beauty retouching in advance, so that there are no surprises with the costs. Before final delivery, you see a selection and can express your wishes.
May I use the photos for advertising and social media?
Yes. You receive the agreed usage rights for your business communication, such as website, shop, social media, ads and print. We record scope, duration and media in the quote. Passing the images on to third parties or using them for other companies is discussed separately if needed.
What applies when photographing employees and guests?
Identifiable people are protected by personality rights and the GDPR (DSGVO). Employees should give written consent, and we provide a template for this. We photograph guests so that they are not recognisable, or obtain consent. Please keep the consents on file. This is practical guidance and does not replace legal advice.
Are the images suitable for my Google Business Profile?
Yes. We deliver exterior, interior, team and product images in suitable formats and sizes. Genuine, current photos make your profile more informative and help customers decide before they visit or call you. Whether and how Google displays the images is up to Google, but good images are a solid foundation for a complete profile.
