Having an AI Ad Video Made: Process, Costs and What to Watch Out For
An AI ad video is created fully or partly with generative AI models instead of a camera and a shoot day. It suits short spots, ad variants and scenes that are hard to film. At digtatur an AI video of up to about 30 seconds with editing, sound and subtitles starts at €490 net. When people, your actual product or your premises are the focus, a real shoot is usually more credible.
What is an AI ad video?
For an AI ad video, AI models generate images and motion from a description, from reference images or from an existing photo (image-to-video). People handle everything else: idea, copy, selecting the best variants, editing, sound, subtitles and checking for errors. The result is a short spot for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or ads on Meta and Google.
When is an AI ad video worth it?
- Testing ads: several variants of the same spot to see which performs better
- Scenes without a location: winter mood in summer, a city in the background, a product in a new setting
- Explanations: processes that cannot be filmed, for example inside a machine
- Quick promotions: a clip for an offer that has to go live within days
When is a real shoot better?
If your customers need to trust you, real footage belongs at the core. This applies especially to:
- People: your team, the founder, real customers
- Your actual product: it must look in the video as it does in reality
- Your premises: restaurant, practice, workshop
A hybrid is often best: a short real shoot from which AI creates additional scenes and variants. More on our videography page.
How does an AI ad video come together?
- Briefing: goal, channel, target group, key message, desired length
- Define the style: colours, look, references, logo and real product photos as the basis
- Generate scenes: several variants per scene with leading image and video models
- Select and check: remove errors in hands, text, logos and product depiction
- Edit and sound: music, voice-over, subtitles, logo and call to action
- Formats: 9:16 for Reels and TikTok, 1:1 for the feed, 16:9 for YouTube and website

Do I have to label an AI ad video?
For realistic-looking content, often yes. Article 50 of the EU AI Act sets out transparency obligations for so-called deepfakes, i.e. AI content that looks like real people, places or events. Platforms also have their own rules: TikTok requires realistic AI content to be labelled, and Meta adds an "AI info" label to ads created with generative AI tools. We explain this in detail in labelling AI advertising. This is guidance, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
How long does an AI ad video take?
Usually much less time than a classic shoot, often a few days. The exact time depends on scope and revisions.
Can AI show my product in the video?
Yes, if a real product photo is the basis and the product stays unchanged. Advertising must not mislead; the product must look as it does in reality.
Who owns the rights to the AI video?
You receive the usage rights agreed in the quote. Purely AI-generated content often has only limited copyright protection. This is not legal advice.
Does digtatur also make AI videos with a voice-over?
Yes, with voice-over, music and subtitles. We only recreate real people with written consent.
